Kush is an original percussionist playing a diverse range of styles and is well known as an excellent and dynamic Congo player. Whether it be Latin, Samba, Cha-Cha, Roots Reggae, Soca, Calypso, African Shango, Panloga or Belair, all are performed with style, flair and finesse. Kush is also a poet, chanter and rousing Empowerment Speaker, on subjects covering Relationships, the Concept of Duality, African/Black presence in the Bible, the History of Humanity & Civilisation and The Livity of Ras Tafari.

 

 

 

Kush is currently touring with the renowned band "Elements" look out for more on this outfit.

Past Work

Kush recently freelanced on the national circuit with the band "Mind Body & Soul" who worked closely with William 'Bill' Roach (Ken Barlow of Coronation Street). Recent appearances include 'This Morning' TV show hosted by

 

 

 

Richard and Judy, live from studios in London, and 'Pebble Mill Live' broadcast from Hartland Senior School in Birmingham. The band radiates a strong Latin feel creating a vibe which has Bill Roach rapping his way through one of the tracks. Watch this space for up and coming releases.

Kush is an original member of the Aqua Vita Band formed by The Man Ezeke, and was their lead percussionist. The band spent eight consecutive years touring the globe, supporting acts such as Frank Sinartra, Tina Turner, Cher and Ben Vereen (who played 'Chicken George' in Roots) to name a few. Kush spent eight years working in radio as a presenter/engineer for BBC Three Counties Radio in Luton, UK.

He has spent numerous years teaching and lecturing in schools, community centres and HM Prisons including HMP Littlehey, HMP The Mount and maximum security HMP Whitemore, where his use of music has helped individuals enhance upon literary skills, confidence, teamwork, self/cultural awareness and self esteem.

 

 

His self produced album, New World Order African Style Part 1 is currently out on cassette tape and his long musical career has seen him work with many artists including Papa Levi, Prince Malachi (Jah Light album), and the legendary Lee Scratch Perry. Kush was responsible for forming the well known Kushite Drummers and The Luton African Drummers who performed countrywide to rave reviews.

Kush has now been a professional musician for the last 25 years.
